4000 Miles ????
Damn, I was riding my bike the other day and I noticed the odometer on my bike hit 500 miles. I was pretty stoked about this. I felt this was a fairly decent milestone in my biking.
For some reason I started singing to myself, "500 miles" a la Big Country. Couldn't really come up with many other lines to the song, just fragments, "between a father and a son", "500 miles", that was about it.
So I asked Lotus if she knew what the song was by Big Country that had the line 500 miles in it. I think she said something like, who the f..k is Big Country.
So tonight I finally found a few websites (There are more than one if you can believe that) that have the lyrics to all of big county's songs. Then I remember the line, "in fields of fire" at the end of the song. Turns out that is the title.
But as you have guessed by now, he wasn't singing "500 miles", he was singing "4000 miles". Fuck, I have along way to go now. Guess I need to order that new seat for my bike if I hope to make it that far.
I guess I am retaarded (how would you spell that to have the boston accent a la SNL?)

500 miles is not by Big Country
it's by The Proclaimers, another scottish group from t/80s

the full title of the song (just looked this up on imdb.com) is:
(I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles
by the Proclaimers
It was featured in the 1993 movie, 'Benny & Joon' featuring Johnny Depp and Aidan Quinn, plus another actress chick I don't remember.
That's the song I sang when he asked me about 500 miles. And I do know who Big Coubtry is, in fact, I like the song In a Big Country by Big Country.
Get jumping on that new seat! Only 3500 miles to go!
Makes me want to buy a pedometer as I have no bicycle.
buck futter!!!!
(say this in a sean connery voice)
I don't get it. Why buck futter? Sorry for being a dumbass.
there was no reason...i just wanted to type it because we just saw an old SNL episode where they parody celebrity jeopardy and the sean connery guy yelled 'buck futter'!
i was not, of course, suggesting shogun or thane was one...
okay, i officially sound creepy.
btw, it's spelled "retahded" in Bostonese
